How families play a central role in ending the stigma of addiction.
As I began my career 30 years ago, my passion and interest were always quite naturally drawn to working with addicts and their families. My first exposure to addictions counseling made clear the enormous transformational power involved in the journey of addiction and its process of discovery. Because spiritual principles are the basis for the predominant treatment modality, I had found a career that reflected my deeply held values and aspirations. There is nothing more empowering than becoming aware of the host of options available to us in what seems to be our most difficult situations. Meeting the challenge of addiction in oneself or a loved one is one of those situations that offers the most life changing opportunities possible. Let's enter this challenge together.
Since 1985, I have worked as a family counselor specializing in helping families and individuals struggling with addiction. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Masters Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling. For five years, I served as a family counselor at the world-renowned Hazelden/Betty Ford Foundation, where I developed curriculum for their family residential program.
